ZCZC NNB091015 SB Eastnet Amprnet Shutdown. $NNB091015 East Packet Net NetNews Bulletin 09-10-15 BT NetNews Bulletin: nn_09_6.txt Date: 10/15/2009 Subject: EN Flex Region connectivity and beyond. ************************************************* Reference: NetNws Bulletin nn_09_4.txt With the shutdown of Eastnet Amprnet HUB0 and Hub128 and other servers as indicated in NetNws Bulletin nn_09_4, the Eastnet Northeastern States and Florida FlexNet RF regions lost connectivity and many of the RF links in the Northeastern States region were no longer backed up via Amprnet links. Amprnet world wide connectivity and bbs forwarding was also lost. It soon became clear that for many reasons a rebuild of an Eastnet Ampernet network to support the Eastnet FlexNet RF regions and beyond was not likely to happen. Currently a new plan is in the works that is very likely to be implemented. This involves installing regional IGates using the new BPQ32 NetRom software linked to existing FlexNet-Digi nodes. The BPQ32 nodes will use Internet Telnet protocol to pass axip or axudp encap to provide connectivity to other IGates. BPQ32 does support cross port digi mode which will allow FlexNet links and via links to be used to digi from FlexNet node to FlexNet node via BPQ32 nodes. FlexNet <> <> Internet <> <> FLexNet The current Eastnet Regional support IGate support plan for the EastNet Flexnet network includes: Region BPQ32 FlexNet Status WNY FGRLKS:K2CAN-3 / KC2HFQ-1 Existing and fully operational. Other services such as Win-FBB, DXSpider, Chat, Winlink RMS will in time be available to be connected to from some of these BPQ32 nodes. *************** Previous 2009 NetNews Bulletins are located within 'Packet Information Files' within 'netnews'. http://eastnetpacket.net/files/netnews/ 73 Bob, K2BJG Eastnet Packet /ex NNNN
